It may well be all over now but we want to thank you! Thank you one and all for making March of The Droids 2013 a huge success!

An event summary will be on the site in the next couple of days but for those that couldn’t make it, take a look through the Google+ event.

As those who attended March of The Droids 2013 will tell you, the event was a huge success so much so that we are now planning March of The Droids 2014 with a location, date and price yet to be arranged however we can already say one thing, the 2013 event was good but 2014 will be epic!

We have changed the theme of the site until we have more details to announce for the 2014 event and would like to invite everyone to leave their comments below on how they felt the Manchester event went and what they would like to see for the 2014 event.

Again, thanks to everyone who attended and we can’t wait to see you all again next year!

Camera’s At The Ready to Win an @HTC One X+

The countdown is on folks, March of The Droids is just 3 days away and what better way to get you all into the mood than announcing the details for one of our giveaways.

To be in with a chance of winning an HTC One X+ all you have to do is take photo’s at the March of The Droids event on Saturday and tweet them to @marchofthedroid with the hash tags #HTC and #MoTD2013.

The best photo taken on the day (as chosen by myself) will win the HTC One X+, it’s really that simple!

Point to note, I will not be at the event so any attempts to ask me “will this one win” will be useless

Entry will start at 8am on Friday and finish at 4pm on Saturday. Why Friday I hear you ask? Well for those going through to Manchester on the Friday, the event starts then.

What’s the biggest phone on the planet right now ? That’s right the HTC One.

So far HTC UK have been absolutely incredible in giving us a bag of swag so big Santa would have trouble dealing with. But all that pales into insignificance compared to the star prize they have just informed us about. The lovely folk from your favourite technology company have given us a flagship HTC One to give to one of you lucky people. This device (still not in the shops) is stellar. It is an incredible piece of design, with both stunning software and amazing looks.

So, how do win the One? Simple, everyone who has a ticket to our get together gets there name put in the hat, and at the end of the day we will get HTC to pull a name at random. Just to make this clear, if you have a ticket but real life has got in the way and you can no longer attend you will still be in the draw.

This draw is for ticket holders only not attendees. We will film the draw to make sure you guys who can’t make it along can see everything is fair and above board, and post it to YouTube.

I would just like to say a MASSIVE thank you to HTC for donating this – incredible guys, absolutely incredible.

Proporta Support

As well as HTC bringing Xmas forward by nine months, yesterday Proporta also put their weight behind our event. The accessory store chipped in with 100 (yip 100) Samsung Galaxy S3 phone cover, and five portable power stations. The TurboChargers are fantastic bits of kit, able to charge via USB and is able to charge two devices at once. More details can be found on the Proporta page.

Some days you wake up, and no matter what you do everything goes wrong. You stub your toe getting out of bed, the gas runs out just as you get in the shower and you get chilled to the bone, and you miss the bus to work. Other days go perfectly, you wake up bright as a button, the sun is shining and the hot chick at the bus stop sits beside you for your journey. Today went beyond that. Today was the day you dream about, the day you speak about in ‘imagine if’ conversations. Why ? Simple, today HTC told us how much support they were going to give us. When we first talked about the event we thought/hoped we would get some branded merchandise and if we were lucky a device. HTC UK have told us they will supply the following for us to give away on the day.

5 X HTC Battery Banks containing a double charge for portable charging

2 X HTC One SV handsets

March of the Droid tickets have been sent out

This is just a little note to avoid some confusion. I have have sent out all the tickets bought to date. The tickets themselves come as a NFC wristband. I thought it would be pretty clear, but apparently me knowing what they are in advance does not men you do (who would have known).

So basically when you get an envelope with one of these in – DO NOT THROW IT AWAY !!!

Removal of Google Wallet

It is with deep annoyance that we have had to remove Google Wallet as a payment option for buying tickets.

This comes as a direct result of Google forcing us to charge shipping on all orders despite having no shipping set up on the Google Checkout.

We have cancelled all affected orders and would urge anyone with a cancellation notice to re-order their ticket using Paypal.

If this is an issue please contact us using the contact form on the site and we can work something out.

The Venue is Booked

At long last and after much deliberation we have managed to find and secure a venue.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the MadLab Manchester!

The MadLab is creative community space run as a non-profit organisation. We have full use of both floors and all equipment for the full day, so if things over run a little we won’t be getting chased out the door.

Located in Manchester’s Northern Quarter it is just outside the city centre, but close enough to enjoy some night life when the event is over.

So now we have a date and a venue we can push on and see what little goodies we can get for you, to give away on the day.
